Love you a Latte

I cased (copied and stole everything...lol) this card from an amazingly talented American demonstrator, Robin Merriman. You can check out her blog here and I think you'll agree, she has lovely work. I'd saved this to my "case" file and knew it would be perfect to send to Nicole who is currently freezing her wee butt off, in Iowa. I imagine that she would be partaking in the odd hot chocolate or two or perhaps she's progressed to drinking lattes?? Could well be on the cards because by the time she gets home, she's going to have grown up alot.

Bring on 2011!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't blogged for over a month. I really have no excuse except that I've been giving my gardens and house a ruthless de-clutter. I've had 4 glorious weeks off and woohoo, I still have another 10 days left. That's the best part of working at a school, is all the fantabulous (is that even a word?) holidays.

For the first two weeks, my DD14 and I, spent it down in Palmerston North with family for Christmas and New Years. You may remember that my other DD17, is in the USA on a student exchange. Nicole had her first white Christmas (which she absolutely loved), while we frazzled in the heat (no complaints from me though). As usual, it was great catching up with everyone and we had an awesome visit, but all good things must come to an end. {sigh} 

This last week, I've rewarded myself with some papercrafting and blog hopping ('til my eyeballs got sore...lol) which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I'm excited to tell you that I've found loads of really cool ideas and projects that I can't wait to make and then share with you.

Rock a bye Baby...

This is a baby card that I made a while ago, using Fun and Fast Notes (again.... I hear you say).  It's another quick and easy card, which is definitely my style.  I stamped the pram on designer paper, cut it out and then attached it with dimensionals on top of the first image I'd stamped on whisper white cardstock.

Stamp-a-Stack with Fun & Fast notes...

I had a lovely Stamp-a-Stack class yesterday making up a set of 5 cards using the Fun & Fast notes stamp set.  The hedgehog card (which was one of the favourites) was inspired by the very talented Paula a while ago - the only difference being that I used the Baja Breeze designer series paper.    

 

Here's another from the stack using the little bird and the delicious Kaleidescope designer series paper. Because I've double mounted my stamps there was a choice of greetings to use. For my card, I only wanted to use part of the greeting so only inked up the "thanks" bit with a Stampin' marker.

Fun & Fast Notes..

I usually pop in a small "thank you" card for my customers with their orders, but this time I made a full size card.  I used the little bird from the Fun & Fast notes set.  Isn't he just the cutest? 

I've double mounted the stamps with this set - that is, I've separated the message from the image (cut the rubber stamp before adhering to the block) and adhered them separately  (that's the beauty of being able to mount them ourselves). The image is on the main part of the wooden block and the message is on the end, so I can stamp either just the image or just the words, or I can mix and match.  Double mounting gives me alot more choices. 

Fun and Fast notes come with 8 images and 8 messages and costs just $68.95.  This is another example of a stamp set that ticks all the boxes for being generic and has images and greetings.

To make this card, I also used Tea Party DSP, Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon (retired), and the small flowers are punched out from the trio flower punch, with a dab of white gel pen in the middle, mounted with dimensionals.

Love is in the Air...

I was asked to make a wedding card recently and this is what I came up with..

The thin silver cord has retired and the silver heart brads aren't from Stampin' Up, but everything else is still available. You can't really see it in the photo but the cakes and greeting (which are from the Fun & Fast Notes) are stamped in silver and clear embossed.  It's a very effective technique. This set is $68.95 and there are 8 stamps for 8 different occasions. I've mounted the stamps with the greetings cut off and mounted on the sides of the blocks, so the words and images can easily be stamped separately.
