Graduation Day

It was a very busy day for us on Wednesday 17 December as my daughter turned 21 years old and she also graduated from AUT. She received a Communications Degree with a major in Digital Media and a minor in Creative Advertising. The weather did not play the part for us and there was torrential rain for most of the day. Fortunately, this didn't dampen our mood or enthusiasm as we watched Nicole walk across the stage and receive her degree. We're very proud of her as she's worked hard these last three years and achieved awesome results.

This is the card that I made:

I love that little owl and don't use the punch as often as I should..

Stamp: Well Scripted (retired)
Card: Whisper White, Basic Black, Slate Grey, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana
Ink: Coastal Cabana
Tools: Owl Builder Punch, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Chevron EF, Piercing Tool and Mat
Accessories: Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Whisper White Bakers Twine, Mini Brad,

We've had a busy time of it lately but it's been lots of fun - I love organising parties and celebrations and have enjoyed every minute of Nicole's birthday and graduation. Now that they're over with, we're now able to concentrate on Christmas. We're all going to be down in Palmerston North to be with family. I arrived down on Saturday, Bridgette and Kyla flew down the day before and Nicole arrives on Wednesday. I love the fact that my daughters are spending another Christmas with us. I know the time will eventually come when they'll be with their own families, partners or friends, but for the time being I'm very grateful for time we have together.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy the countdown until the big guy arrives :-)

Happy 21st Birthday Nicole

Nicole (my eldest darling daughter) turns 21 years young today! Woohoo! We had a lovely celebration on Saturday night with friends and family and partied until the wee small hours - some more than others ;-) I think I'm still recovering from the late night because have felt quite jaded the last few days.  There hasn't been any time to relax though because Nicole graduates with a Communications degree today as well.

I've made a graduation card, but that will have to wait for another day - for now, here's her 21st birthday card. It's a total case from Crafting Clare and I couldn't wait to make it. I loved it as soon as I saw it, which was over two years ago. You can imagine my excitement when I found it again. It's simple but very elegant, don't you agree?

A lot of the products that are used on the card have retired, including the cute little key which was from a pack of charms available back in 2012.

I love the idea of the key unlocking the door into the adult world even though it's quite outdated here in New Zealand and a lot of other Western countries.

Stamp: Memorable Moments
Ink: Black Staz On
Card: Whisper White, Real Red
Tools: Big Shot, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Sizzlits Die (retired), Elegant Bouquet EF (retired)
Accessories: Bakers Twine, Basic Pearls

I hope you have a wonderful birthday Nicole - and that your day is filled with friends, family, love and laughter. You deserve it! xxx
