Printed Petals

This was a birthday card that I made for a friend who celebrated a birthday earlier in the week {waving at you Robyn}.  Robyn was lucky enough to receive a Big Shot for her birthday, which I'm sure she will get hours of enjoyment with. I've cased this card from Marelle Taylor who is an Australian demonstrator and very talented too :)

The Story Behind the Remembrance Poppy

Happy ANZAC Day everyone!  Did you manage to crawl out of bed and attend the dawn parade this morning?  I didn't go to the dawn one, but did go to the parade at Hobsonville which started at 10am.  This was much more appealing to me, because I'm not really a morning person - well, not if I can help it.

Significance of the Poppy ~ The association of the Flanders poppy with battlefield deaths as a natural symbol of resurrection and remembrance dates back many years.  Flanders and Picardy in Northern France saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the First World War.  There was complete devastation.  Buildings, roads, trees and natural life disintegrated into seas of mud - graves for the dead, while still more men fought on.  Only one living thing bloomed - the poppy.  Flowering each spring, it brought new life, hope and colour to those still fighting.  The poppies are a vivid reminder of the sacrifice - the blood lost in war.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Tea Shoppe

I couldn't resist purchasing the stamp set Tea Shoppe from the Autumn Winter mini.  And, fancy that, I'm not even a tea drinker!  Here's a quick and easy card I made using the tea cups stamp which is one of 10 in the set.  I've coloured them up individually with markers and with my trusty stamp-a-ma-jig positioned them vertically.  If you want to know how I've done this, contact me HERE and I'll be happy to show you how.

Stamp Set: Tea Shoppe
Card Stock: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz
Ink: Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party
Accessories: Stamp-a-ma-jig, Four Petal Punch from the Itty Bitty Punch pack, Framed Tulips Textured Embossing Folder, Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bright Blossoms

We had team training on Saturday, which was great!  I love getting together with all the talented ladies and having a catch up.  This was the swap that I made. It came together very easily and for the first time ever, I was not up until the wee small hours the night before, finishing them off.

It's back to school for everyone today. I hope you've had a lovely two week break and enjoyed our belated summer.  When I worked at the primary school, it was always great to see the children excited to be back after the holidays.  However, their smiles weren't nearly as big as their parents :-)

Have a wonderful week!
