Stampin' Up! Swallowtail

This was the second card we made last week at class. I'm happy to say that this stamp has seen ink many times over the two or so years I've owned it. It has such gorgeous details and makes for a quick and easy card. The photo doesn't do it justice, but I've covered it in clear Wink of Stella and it makes the card really pop in real life.

Stamps: Swallowtail, Awesomely Artistic, Happy Happenings (Greeting), Petite Petals
Ink: Island Indigo, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Card: Very Vanilla
Accessories: Linen Thread, Clear Wink of Stella, Sponge

Swallowtail Ombre Style...

Ombre is the style of this card, which I found on Deena Boos blog. It's very easy and the hardest part was calculating how wide to make each strip of card. I'll take the guess work out of it and tell you that I made mine 3.4cm x 9.5cm each. Then layered it onto a piece of Whisper White card, measuring 10cm x 14.1cm. Too easy!

Stamp: Swallowtail
Card: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Island Indigo, Tempting Turquoise, Coastal Cabana
Ink: Black Staz On
Accessories: Whisper White Bakers Twine

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is wrapping up nicely... I'll be boarding my plane and headed for Los Angeles this evening at around 7pm. I've scheduled some posts while I'm away so hope to see you back here soon!

Stampin' Up! Swallowtail

This was one of the projects we made at class over the weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking when I was preparing for it and used Baja Breeze card, which has retired. I thought I had moved all the retired stock out of my craft room ready for our garage sale next month, but it wasn't to be.

I found this card on Stamp Envy's blog and you can click here to see her wonderful projects. I pretty much copied exactly the same card and figured why change a good thing?

Here's a close up of the Frosted Finishes Embellishment which is a yummy new product from the Holiday Catalogue:

Stamp Set: Swallowtail
Card: Crumb Cake
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Linen Thread, Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon, Frosted Finishes Embellishments
Tools: Heat Tool, Big Shot, Woodgrain EF

The other project we made also used the Swallowtail stamp set. I posted that a while ago and you can view it here.

I've only got two more sleeps until I leave on my trip to the States. To say I'm excited is an understatement! Brett called me the other day from Utah to tell me that we won't be travelling on the motorbike after all, but will be hiring a convertible instead. Woohoo! That made my day! Hopefully that will stop me waking at 5am worrying about my lack of luggage space. I'll be able to take my Sammy (Samsonite suitcase), which is a load off my mind. And, I won't have to contend with helmet head each day either. It can't get much better than that, my friends :-)

Have a happy Tuesday and I'll see you again soon!

I spied this little beauty some time ago in blog land and saved it to my CASE file. I finally got around to making it over the weekend and love the result. This will be one of the cards we'll be making at my Swallowtail class next month. Scroll down the page and see my classes on the left side of my blog. Email me to book your space, if you want to join in.
